Radio Shack Return Without Reciept

Stupid UC System + Male Empowerment?

Maybe, JUST maybe its me, but lately it seems like there are tons of groups dedicated to woman empowerment and especially latina empowerment. This is cool and I have no problem with it (believe me, I support latinas ;D) but what about male empowerment? Or latino (male) empowerment?

Before I get started on my rant, lemme give you a little background:

Tuesday nights from 7pm-10pm I have class that meets only once a week. In other words, to drop this class you better be there at 7pm on tuesday or else you're out of luck. Well I showed up one tuesday to drop the class and of course the professor decided to be sick. No worries, right? just wait till next week?

WRONG

The deadline was that friday for any schedule changes, I needed his signature ASAP even though I wouldn't see him till the following week. Ok, so begins my adventures with the stupid bureaucracies
of the UC system. I go to the head of the Politcal Science Department and talk to Dr. Pratacca (Prattaca?) BIG MISTAKE, he thought I was just another student slacking off and dropping the class because I failed the midterm. He goes on and on about how I had 3 weeks to drop the class. I remind him that I still have one more week until the deadline and it's really not my fault the professor was sick. I did my part to follow the rules and was on time. This just ticks him off even more. It did not end well and he didn't give me a signature. Rude, right?

Ok, no problem. If he won't help me then I'll go to the head of the Social Science Department and have Dr. Ceraseres sign my add/drop card. Walk across the freakin campus (should've taken the shuttle) and go up 4 floors just to read a sign that says "Dr. Ceraseres on Sabbatical this quarter. Researching in Mexico."

: because my professor is gone and Dr. Petracca won't sign it.
-I'm sorry, Nancy is out this week.
-What? will she be here on friday or be back before the deadline to change schedules?
-No, sorry.

>:
-What do you need Dr. Salinger for?
-(I explain the whole story and my run-around)
-Wow, thats pretty crazy. I'm sure Dr. Salinger will help you out though.
-yeah, I hope so.
-Hey, can you fill out a survery for me and Pablo (I'm calling her friend Pablo, but could be Pedro. I also forgot his name, but I know it was spanish and started with a P)
-Sorry, I really don't have time. I just need Sharon to sign this card for me so I can get going to class. I'm already late from running around
-Well, you can take the survey with you. We really need your feedback, theren't many like you left?
-Like me? What are you guys talking about, both of you are latino. I know there aren't many latinos here but there are certainly enough for you to get feedback from others.
-Yeah, but MALE latinos is what we need. We are doing UROP (undergraduate research opportunity program) on latino males in college. Most latinos that end up in college are female. In fact, most other latinos we've seen around were recruited here for the soccer team.
-Really?! (thought about this. Never crossed my mind before) Well, now that you mention it. I used to live in Casa Cesar Chavez and out of the 36 latinos, only about 10 were male. Wow, ok.
-Yeah, your like a double minority. Pablo and I only have about 60 responses so far and we are trying to find more. We didn't think it would be this hard.

I take the survery before I go see Dr. Salinger. Thank them for the little info and go about my way.

This made me think.

If what they said is true: latino males (minority males, in general) go to college substantialy less than women. Why aren't there any Latino Male Empowerment seminars or help groups? I began to google search the keywords ad came up empty handed. I google searched latina seminars and there were TONS (and I mean TONS) of self-helf groups, support groups, grants, scholarships. I thought to myself, if latino males need more help then why aren't there as many seminars to help the men as there are for women? I then broaden my search and take out the word "latino" and "latina."
The trend was similar: tons of results for female empowerment and not that many (If any) for men.
I did, however, come across and interesting article. "
The End of Men "
The article states that woman now lead in men in the workplace. Men have become the minority. Pretty much made me feel bad for being a guy

"Earlier this year, women became the majority of the workforce for the first time in U.S. history. Most managers are now women too. And for every two men who get a college degree this year, three women will do the same."

Is it possible that society (at least in the US) has reached a point in which MEN now need the empowerment? I'm all for woman empowerment as a means to reach equality between men and women, but are we at a point in which we now need to focus on the male?

I let this idea simmer on the back of my head and brought it up with some friends. One even said:
"well that sounds sexist. Making a program that empowers only a man. Do you know about the glass ceiling?" I didn't bother bringing up the article I had read. Just nodded politely

Returning to the subject of LATINA empowerment. I recently saw that LATISM (Latinos in Social Media) was hosting an event called BlogHer Designed to Empower Women in social media and give "blogging" a chance to rise up. Now I'm Hoping to maybe get the idea-through to create one for evil AS WELL

5 things we want to see in Brazil 2014

2010 World Cup in South Africa leaves us with many memories good, bad and even some embarrassment. Many good screamers event dominated by European and South American. We also found that 'countries elites' can fall quickly, such as France and Italy. Many curses of the glass were broken and others are still impacting the event. Soccer fans know that it is a sad thing to wait four years until the next World Cup, especially when it will be in Brazil. We can already imagine the beautiful women dancing in the carnival ... hehe Here is 5 things I'd like to see in the next world to be an extraordinary event: 1. Fewer errors
arbitration: This world farewell with a sour taste to learn that many refereeing errors changed the fate of some unfortunate teams. Not only speak of out of place Tevez in Argentina against Mexico but also the U.S. disallowed goal against Slovenia. Of course the worst mistake arbitration was the legitimate goal for England against Germany that the arbitrator "did not see."

2. Champions different

: same teams always win and the same places: 3 in South America and 5 in Europe. I do not want Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, France ... etc. are winners. Thank God that Spain won this championship for the first time, would be disappointed if he saw Brazil won. Would a team of North America (Mexico: D) Africa and Asia to win the cup.

3. More animals psychic :
World Since 2014 will be in Brazil, perhaps a macaw with psychic powers
animal would be best to replace the Octopus Paul.

4. A ball better : No matter if NASA is to design the ball from the cup, all we ask is a ball that ALL players / coaches agree. As nacos say, 'This is less anger'

5. A refined TRI : The Mexican team has many promising players like Vela, Chicharito, brothers Dos Santos, Guardado, Memo Ochoa Juarez. I want to see those players refine their style of play and come to Brazil with enough experience to defeat their rivals.

How Long Does A D&c Take

Only three small complaints about American culture ...

United States is a wonderful country with many people different cultures and with many beautiful landscapes. Since I have a good time living here and the U.S. three things will always bother me. Here is my three quejitas (well, maybe it would be better if I said QUEJOTAS) about American culture.

: Apparently the word 'American' means someone with white skin born in the U.S.. Our American friends do not realize that America is a huge continent divided into two parts: North and South America. Every person in these two continents are Americans. From the Canadian frozen until the Indians living in the forests of Brazil, all we are Americans. It would, for example, the same if the English say they are the only Europeans and nobody else. The other day I realized that there is no English word for 'American'. Unitedstatesman? Unitedstateofamerican? No wonder these poor people still believe they are the only Americans.

Here is a map of the continents to remember ...

'Football'

: FOOT BALL = = FOOT and BALL. What sport is played with feet and a ball? It is obvious that the only answer is: 'football'. So why do Americans insist that throwing a ball (or ball is shaped like papaya) by hand to another person who also captured his hands is 'Football'. That's not football, that should be 'Handpapaya'.

So you can see, the ball of 'American Football' looks like a papaya

miles and pounds?
: Everyone knows that the mile and kilos are better ways to measure distance and weight. Well, Americans still do not realize this obvious fact. Did you know that NASA lost a $ 125,000,000

stupid mistake? NASA engineers used the American system and other measures to give engineers used the metric system. The satellite was diverted and disappeared in space. Please American friends, go forth and begin the easy life to use the metric system.

Fry and Bender hope to find that satellite ... I know these aspects of American culture may never change ... never mind. Continue to write my complaints here.

Report Cards Templates For 3 Year Old

Best of San Rafael, California Nike

Located 15 minutes north of San Francisco, San Rafael is one of the best cities in the entire Bay Area. If you come one day to visit SF, do not forget this wonderful city. Here we leave the best aspects of this beautiful city.

'The Fourth' (4th street) : 'The Fourth, "as many Latinos call it, is the center of the city. This is where you can find everything: Chinese, Mexican, Thai, clothing, furniture, and more. This street is lit every night Christmas lights tangled in each tree in the main street. There is also an old movie (from the 50s) that was recently restored.

China Camp: Many years ago (can not remember but I think it was in 1800), immigrants from China came to this city \u200b\u200band stayed to live on the coast of San Rafael to catch shrimp. Now, most of the Chinese moved to San Francisco or returned to China but left old buildings and piers. You can visit the old buildings and read their story in a small museum. In addition, the China Camp area is the most beautiful of the entire city and can walk the beaches or go on the hidden trails of the hill. This park is well maintained and clean. They also have many bathrooms and places to roast.

Mission San Rafael Archangel : This mission was established in the 1800s by English missionaries (they were Mexicans, but to be politically correct to say English) the reason for converting the natives of the area. Mission San Rafael is part of the twenty-one missions established from San Diego to Sonoma. Due to costly repairs, the mission was not able to restore to its natural bellesa. The building is still standing, but was replaced by a very large cathedral built next to the mission, which is taught in Mass every Sunday.

'The Mole' (The Mall at Northgate) : Before the shopping center was worse than an old market. Now, also recently restored, is one of the best in the area. With stores like H & M Forever 21, Macy's and Kohls one can spend much time (and money) here. Also check out a movie in the cinema or spend time in the food center of the "mole."

Civic Center
: those who saw the movie Gattaca will recognize this building immediately. Can walk the corridors of the building but can also walk around the lake. Located near China Camp, I recommend making the effort to stop here to see this magnificent building

.

If they decide to stop at this beautiful city, do not forget to contact me and I will give a 'tour' private.

Toronto Airport Cruising

The Curse of Luis Alberto Urrea

Before the start of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Nike came out with this commercial:

Like many people, I loved the music and put me in good mood to see the cup. Yesterday I was thinking about all the players who left on business and concluded that they were all cursed by Nike.

1.)

Didier Drogba, he broke his arm (or elbow) in a friendly game against China before the Cup started although it could play , his arm would not let him train damaged enough he also wanted his team (Ivory Coast) was eliminated in the first round.

2.)

Fabio Cannavaro : Failed to score any goals and the Italian team (former champion of the World Cup) were eliminated in the first round. Cannavaro said he will retire.

3.)

Wayne Rooney: similar to Cannavaro, is leaving the world without a goal. Your team could go for the knockout but were eliminated 4-1 by the Germans. Furthermore, the arbitration were denied a goal that was fair.

4.)

Franck Ribery

: not scored a goal and his French team went to World Cup disgrace. In the three games played by the French, just scored a goal. Apart from that, the French team now has many internal problems.

5.)

Ronaldinho Gaucho Ronaldinho or see the country of South Africa. Dunga did not choose for the Brazilian Ronaldinho.

6.)

Kobe Bryant: Bryant may be the player with the best of luck in all the World Cup .... and not play football. Los Angeles Lakers won the final and are champions of basketball, but also came out with a broken finger.

7.)

Cristiano Ronaldo: the 'prima dona' could only score a goal (and was lucky if I do not believe

go here ). His team was eliminated in the second round by Spain.

The ad also shows a few seconds of other teams and players but the main characters were the ones who have listed. Brazil is the only commercial team still in the Cup and this Friday will see if they are eliminated.

What do you think? Curse or not?

EDIT: Brazil was eliminated in the quarterfinals by the Netherlands. So you see, curse or no?

The dark secret of a neuroscientist

Before you start telling this story, I would say that my interest began when I realized that the protagonist of this story works no more than 5 minutes from where I study and live. I had chills when I read this story on NPR

, not only by the proximity to my home but it is dark.

James Fallon is a neuroscientist doing research on the brains of sociopaths and serial murderers. He works at the University of California at Irvine, the campus in which I study.

From a young age was fascinated Fallon brains of murderers and studied them with passion and interest. After years of research, he discovered that all murderers have problems with the brain. According to him, the orbital cortex of the human brain determines whether a person has or has not
trends

be a murderer. In the murderers the orbital cortex area is dark and no activity, resulting in a person without morals or ethics. According to Fallon, people without morals or ethics usually make sociopaths (or at least shy person).

One day, the grandmother of Fallon told his family someone was a murderer. After researching your family tree, Fallon ran into her cousin killed her husband and children.

also discovered that an uncle was lynched in a town for killing his former wife. Fallon was shocked and ordered a brain scan of all members in your family. Was relieved when he saw that the orbital cortex of everyone in your family had too much color and activity.

then analyzed his own brain ...

James Fallon saw his orbital cortex was black and dark, like the brains of murderers whom he studied. Fallon decided that this would be his dark secret and not tell anyone.

Fallon's brain (right) shows the dark side of the orbital cortex. The other seat is your child's brain.

After further years of research to discover that Fallon could be a murderer a person needs three ingredients:

1.

free Orbital Cortex Activity

2.

Genes of aggression (also found in himself and others in his family)

3.

abuse / violence in their childhood

Fallon said that his childhood was one of the best and received much love. Although he says 'I am a born murderer' does not worry that one day going to kill his wife.

Fallon's findings
and will help us deal with this discomfort and how to perceive these people in court. Still, Fallon has not killed anyone (hopefully never happens) and his wife was precupa.

Where Can I Get Robert Wagner Darts

What are these arbiters of the world ...

"Are referees or blind?

Someone can explain how the next picture was not a goal:

vs Germany. England

the ball hit the crossbar and then entered the arc before it removed the goalie .... almost a meter into the goal and the referee did not see him.
vs Argentina. Mexico

to Argentina fans said Tevez was offside but the referee stopped yet to receive the ball and stick his first goal for Argentina.
Another day in the world that the referees ruin a game ... who will be tomorrow?

Vodeo De Famosa Mexicanas

Reflections on the Mexican ...

Here is my thoughts on the Mexican. A little disorganized because I wrote quickly, but hopefully they can enjoy ...
Mexico faces this Sunday against Argentina in the World Cup and the nerves will not stop reminding me that my dear 'Tricolor' can go home. In the 2006 World Cup Argentina Mexico eliminated in the knockout finals, the same situation in Mexico is now.

VS

One thing I tell my readers who do not know the Mexican or fans: HATE THE SELECTION OF ARGENTINA. (Note that I said I just hated the selection 'albiceleste' and NOT the Argentines, even their culture is fascinating gauchos and tango.)

Mexico's defeat against Argentina in 2006 left a mental scar that reminds us who fuel that took away our chance of winning the cup in 2006. All Mexico is looking forward to that game ...

_________________

Mexico makes an effort to show the world that is capable of being one of the 'supers' in the world. That is a team that can control the ball as Brazil and Argentina can score goals, and can win the World Cup. Young men like Giovanni Dos Santos, Javier Hernandez and Carlos Vela together with veteran Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Rafael Marquez are faith and hope the fans of El Tri. Mexico in my mind already reached the level of these 'super' teams but now it must show the world what is obvious to me.

party that wins Mexico (Mexico 2-0 France) brings more to the Mexican people that the federal government's effort or commercial
of 'Stars of the bicentennial' that

Televisa. All kinds of Mexican, poor, indigenous, nacos, Mexican illegals in the U.S., Chilangos, Cachanilla and even Mexicans who can not speak English because they are 3rd or 4th generation living in the U.S. pray and ask God to Cup win (or at least in Argentina). In fact is football unites us all.

A Salvadoran friend once told me: 'Why is it that Mexicans hate? The northern Mexico hate the south, those of a state hate-state. Even the Mexicans who are in the same city they hate because they are not in the same neighborhood. " Obviously I laughed and said I was crazy, but I was thinking because what he said had some truth. My answer to my friend, pride. Mexicans love what they are and all they have, but one must remember that the country of Mexico is quite large and different. Chiapas Indians will not feel love and pride as well as a 'Child Strawberry' in Tijuana. A Mexican Chicago, Illinois will not feel pride for the same thing as a "Naco" of Michoacán. In short, nothing in Mexico that unites all the people more than football. Football is the 'Kola Loka' that connects all Mexicans remembering that we are united in front of all that is happening in our society and the world.

why Mexico must beat the Argentines on Sunday. Pride not only beat the team that knocked us out four years ago but also for the Mexican people united and continue to succeed in issues beyond football.

Up My beautiful selection of beans and corn, my selection of Aztec warriors, my Mexican team!

Whatever happens, we will be faithful to our selection.

'to anyone, Less France'

'

anyone, Less France' (Anyone But France) is called the anti-French web site recently started a Mad Irish group. The web site asks you're media and fan of any team in this world with the exception of France. The website provides photos, video and even a guide to avoid being a fan of the selection 'bleu'. Even to ask you (so funny) that you are a fan of the Mexican.

The web site asks you not to buy anything French as baguettes, croissants and even 'things with garlic. " Twitter friends also said: '
